A local senator is urging Galway City and County Councils to support a clothing recycling project that helps drug rehabilitation programmes.

Senator Fidelma Healy Eames is making the appeal after visiting the Liberties Recycling Training and Development Project in Dublin.

It trains people affected by drug use in the recycling of textiles and clothes.

The Fine Gael senator now wants Galway county and city councils to allow the Dublin project place a clothing bank on publicly owned sites here.
