Put Thursday, May 5, in the diary, because that’s when Beoga and Lightscape bring a unique show to the city’s Monroe’s Live, with newly composed music set against the backdrop of a Lightscape’s projections.

Visuals created by Lightscape have been inspired by Beoga’s new album, Before We Change our Mind, and the space and structures of the stage will be transformed into 3D visual installations that make the music come to life.

Beoga are a five-piece band based in Antrim. Formed in 2002, they have become one of the most popular and influential ensembles in Irish traditional music. Their unique sound features the twin duelling accordions of Damian McKee and multi-instrumentalist Seán Óg Graham, pianist Liam Bradley and four-times All-Ireland bodhrán champion Éamon Murray. In 2005, the addition of Niamh Dunne on vocals and fiddle completed the line-up.

Brian Kenny is a visual artist and designer whose work focuses on the transformation and manipulation of structures and spaces, using digital lighting and projection technologies. A founding member of Lightscape, his work has been shown extensively throughout Ireland and in Germany, America, Jordan and South Africa. Lightscape specialises in using video mapping and 3D visual technologies to create a visual display and light show.

The collaboration with Beoga in Monroe’s promises to be a night to remember.

■ Doors for the show on May 5 are at 8pm, tickets €15/€12.
