SECOND SCANS NOW STANDARD IN GALWAY HOSPITALS

Second scans are now “standard” in Galway University Hospital, according to HSE West.

It’s to eliminate the risk of misdiagnosing pregnant women after two Galway women were wrongly told they had lost their babies.

The HSE has also promised to carry out a review of cases over the past five years into the issue of miscarriage misdiagnosis.
