SEARCH OPERATION FOR CASTLEREA PRISONERS JAILED FOR GALWAY OFFENCES
Date Published: 16-Jul-2012
A search operation is underway for two men whom it’s believed have escaped from Castlerea Prison in County Roscommon.
The brothers are Romanian nationals, aged 23 and 29 and had been serving time for theft and criminal damages offences which took place in Galway city.
The pair were serving sentences of 1 year 11 months, and 1 year 10 months respectively, with an expected release date of April of next year.
The men were sentenced at Galway District Court in January to serve time in Castlerea prison on charges of theft and criminal damage, after they damaged and stole money from parking meters in Galway city.
The pair were last seen at half past eleven last night, and noticed missing at half past six this morning.
