SEARCH CONTINUES FOR ARMED RAIDER OF UHG

Gardaí are still searching for the armed man who assaulted a member of staff at University Hospital Galway last night before fleeing with a large sum of money.

The man, brandishing a knife, approached staff at the cafeteria, which is close to main entrance of the building, at around ten past nine last night

The man described as six foot 3, wearing dark blue baseball hat and dark jeans approached staff at the coffee shop and waved his knife as he demanded money.

He then proceeded to assault one member of staff, who although deeply shocked and traumatised was not seriously injured in the incident.

The man then fled the scene, making off with up to twenty thousand euro in cash.
