Galway West Fine Gael Deputy Sean Kyne is to bombard the Education Minister with statistics to force him to take action on Clifden Community School

The school was excluded from the five year school building programe despite full belief it was to be included due to its very poor condition

Minister Ruairi Quinn is refusing to take representation on the matter despite having a home in the area

He’s likely to be lobbied on the matter when he visits Galway city tomorrow to address the Association of Management of Catholic Secondary Schools in the Radisson Hotel at 3.45pm

The latest figures published by the CSO, the Central Statistics Office show that Clifden is the fastest growing town in Connacht, with just under 7000 people residing in the immediate catchment area for Clifden school

Now Deputy Kyne has written to Minister Quinn expressing his concern about the apparent disconnect between the Department of Education and the CSO

Deputy Kyne says Minister Quinn has to find a way around the problem.
