Seámus Begley and special guests for Gavin fundraiser

West Kerry singer and accordion player Séamus Begley will be joined by family members and special guests for a concert at An Taibhdhearc Theatre on Saturday, September 21, at 8pm.

The Gig for Gav is a fundraiser for Séamus’s nephew, the musician and producer Gavin Ralston, who was first diagnosed with cancer in 2014. While Gavin was successfully treated following that initial diagnosis, the illness has returned and he is very ill at present.

Guitarist and producer Gavin has been involved in the Irish music industry for about 25 years, performing with the Waterboys, Sharon Shannon, Eimear Quinn, Clannad and Bagatelle and producing artists such as Ronnie Drew and The Coronas. He was a regular at the Róisín Dubh in the 1990s, when he gigged regularly with accordionist Alan Kelly and his band.

Gavin’s mother is singer Seosamhín Ní Bheaglaoich and his younger brother Aongus Ralston is the Waterboys bass player.

The Galway concert, which is being promoted by Tígh Chóilí, should be a cracking night of music and all funds raised from the event will help Gavin and his family at this difficult time.

Tickets are €20 from www.antaibhdhearc.ie or 091-562024.
