Schoolgirl testifies by video link at city rape trial
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A girl has told a jury she was raped by a man while at a sleepover in her friend’s house in Galway city but was too afraid to tell anyone about it until a month later because she had felt it was her fault.
The now 17-year-old spoke to the jury by video link yesterday at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Galway.
The girl said the man, who had been a lodger in her friend’s house, told her he had not had sex for eight years while raping her.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has pleaded not guilty to raping the then 15-year-old Junior Certificate student at a house in Galway on April 17, 2011.
