SCENE OF BRIARHILL BLAZE SEALED OFF FOR TECHNICAL EXAMINATION

Gardaí are investigating the cause of a fire at two derelict houses and a unoccupied caravan on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of today

The blaze began at two unoccupied houses on the Monivea road close to the Lynch roundabout at 2am

Three units of the fire brigade battled the blaze near the roundabout at Briarhill, but one house was gutted and the other severely damaged

An unoccupied caravan and two cars were also on fire at the nearby Seanbhaile estate
