Galway Bay fm newsroom – Savita Halappanavar’s husband has received abusive letters telling him to go home, but insists most Irish people have been kind and supportive.

Praveen Halappanavar has confirmed this morning he is taking legal action against the HSE for medical negligence in the death of his wife.

In an interview on RTÉ he has called the HSE report into his 31-year-old wife’s death ‘a complete whitewash’.

He said he is determined to find out what happened to her, and will take his case to the European Court of Human Rights if neccessary.

In a meeting with Health minister James Reilly next week, Praveen Halappanavar will express his concerns that no-one has been held responsible for Savita’s death, and will demand a public inquiry.

Mr. Halappanavar also said the decision to take the HSE to court was a difficult one, made together with Savita’s parents.

Speaking about the proposed abortion legislation, Mr. Halappanavar claims he is not following political events and never sought to represent the pro-choice movement.
