Galway Bay fm newsroom – Praveen Halappanavar is to take a High court case against University Hospital Galway over the death of his wife Savita.

According to the Irish Times there are multiple grounds for the case.

The claim will be for injures, distress and the loss of his wife.

Savita Halappanavar died from septacemia at UHG on the 28th of October last year.

The 31 year old was 17 weeks pregnant and was found to be miscarrying.

A HSE investigation into her death found multiple failures in her care coupled with a lack of clarity on whether doctors could legally intervene to perform an abortion.

But Praveen Halappanavar’s solicitor says he is dissatisfied with the HSE report because it does not answer why his wife was not treated and why she was allowed to become so seriously infected.
