Salthill Devon Open Day for U-19 Elite squad

Salthill Devon is holding an Open Day next month for players interested in joining the club’s U-19 squad for the upcoming League of Ireland Elite Division campaign.

Devon finished fourth in last year’s 12-team division, just six points behind table-toppers Cork City, despite a slow start to the campaign which saw them have to wait until the fourth game of the 22-match campaign for their first win.

They had a storming second half to the season, securing a fourth place finish and making the Cup semi-final against Cork City in Drom, losing 2-1 after extra time to the side that went on to complete the League and Cup double.

“We finished the second half of the league season with six wins, three draws and two defeats which were on the road to St Pats and Shamrock Rovers, so ended up just six points off league winners Cork City in fourth place,” says U-19 manager, Brian Laffey.

The Open Day will be held in Drom on Saturday July 6 at noon ­– all players interested in playing at U-19 Elite national level are invited to attend on the day to meet the coaching staff in an informal setting, check out the facilities and have a light training session.
