SALT STOCKS DISTRIBUTED TO COUNCILS AS BIG CHILL CONTINUES

Extra supplies of salt are being distributed to Galway city and county councils as the big freeze continues.

Both councils received shipments of salt from Cork late last evening and this morning, and more stocks will be delivered this evening.

Diminishing stocks in the county left a section of the N59 west of Oughterard untreated last night and this morning.
