Rural Galway GP services at risk following cutbacks
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Rural parts of the county could be at risk of losing essential GP services as a result of cutbacks.
That’s according to the National Association of General Practitioners, who today launched a nationwide Patient Awareness Campaign entitled ‘General Practice in Crisis.’
The Association has criticised recent cutbacks, and the impact they have had on general practice, especially in rural areas.
These have resulted in longer waiting lists, less home visits and changes in fee structures.
President and western spokesperson for the NAGP, Dr Conor McGee, says rural Galway is particularly at risk of closures.
