RTÉ Symphony Orchestra returns
The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will return to Galway next Thursday, October 9, to perform a concert of music from Dvorak, Brahms and Richard Strauss.
The orchestra will be under the baton of Alan Buribayev and will be joined by the celebrated German cellist, Daniel Müller-Schott for a performance of Dvorak’s masterpiece, the Cello Concerto in B minor, a dialogue between orchestra and soloist. Müller-Schott triumphed with this earlier this year when he performed it with the Berlin Philharmonic.
The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will then take centre stage as they perform Brahms’ serene and majestic Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn. The evening will come to a swashbuckling close with Richard Strauss’ Don Juan.
This visit, the first from the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra in over three years, has been made possible thanks to support by software company SAP, which is based in Parkmore in Galway City.
The concert, on Thursday, October 9, is at 8pm and will Leisureland, Salthill.
Tickets are €22.50, concessions; €18 students (full time); and school-going children €10. There is also a special offer, with limited availability where people can book four tickets together. Tickets are available at Music for Galway 091 705962, Opus 2, High Street or www.tht.ie, 091-56977.
