ROSE SELLER OPTS FOR CONVICTION RATHER THAN LICENCE
Date Published: 21-Sep-2008
A Romanian man who was given a chance by a Judge to apply for a casual trading licence to sell plastic roses to late-night revellers in the city has opted for a conviction and fine instead
In August, 24 year old Vasile Muntean of Leixlip, Co. Kildare pleaded guilty to engaging in casual trading at Cross Street, Galway, on July 26 without holding a casual trading licence.
Judge Eamon O’Brien adjourned the charge to this week’s court sitting, advising the accused to apply to City Council for a licence.
This week Defence solicitor, John Geraghty said Muntean was not interested in getting a casual trading licence from the Council as he did not intend selling plastic roses in Cross Street anymore.
Noting this was Muntean’s first offence under for a casual trading breach, Judge Fahy fined him €50.
