Rory makes a dramatic debut at Fringe Festival
Blue Wine the debut drama from Ballinasloe writer and actor Rory Griffin, will be making its festival debut at this year’s Galway Fringe. The author is also performing in this surreal one-act farce, which runs at 2pm daily at Seven Bar from 15th-17th July.
Blue Wine tells the story of three eccentric housemates who try to pawn off a mysterious artefact and find themselves in a series of bizarre situations under the influence of the titular concoction. Witty, edgy and deliberately strange, the play was first performed by An Nuadha Players last September in Maynooth Castle and has now been selected as a first festival showpiece for the young writer.
Rory was born in Ballinasloe, and is based in Donadea, Co Kildare. A philosophy graduate from University College Dublin, where he was an active member of the Drama Society, he continues to make regular appearances in community theatre productions, as well as continuing with his own writing. He is currently working on various plays including a sequel to Blue Wine and pens reviews for a popular gaming site as well as his own blog.
The Loft Venue at Seven Bar, Bridge Street, will be hosting this short play, which is directed by Rian Glynn. Tickets are available to book now at galwayfringe.ie (€8 / €6 concessions available on the door).
