ROMANIAN MAN ARRESTED IN CITY FACES EXTRADITION

A Romanian man convicted of drink driving causing death is facing extradition after his arrest in Galway city yesterday.

52 year old Varga Loti was sentenced in his absence in Romania to 5 years imprisonment on a total of 3 charges in 2003.

The High Court heard he replied that it was political when Gardai put the charges to him at his arrest in Ballybane.

At today’s hearing in the High Court he was remanded in custody until Sept 7th.
