A Galway group has made an extended shortlist to be voted into the line-up for this year’s Electric Picnic, and now needs the support of the public to secure the coveted slot.

Rofi James are one of 30 acts on the shortlist to play at the September festival, and needs people to text their support for their bid before the closing date of this Friday, July 28. The top 10 vote winners will get to Play the Picnic tent at Electric Picnic, with the overall winner also getting to play the Cosby Stage at Electric Picnic and winning a full day studio session at RTE’s state-of-the-art recording studio.

Rofi James was formed by Rónán Ó Flaithearta and Jamie Murray, and took first place title at the NUIG Witless battle of the bands 2011.

Some time passed and RJ began to expand from their acoustic roots winning First Place in iRadio’s battle of the bands contest in 2013. Although lacking experience compared to their fellow competitors, the judges credited Rofi James’ win to their catchy, radio friendly and commercial sound. RJ released their first EP in 2014.
