The National Road Authority has defended its planning appeals to Galway County Council on the basis of safety.

Over the past two years, the NRA has appealed planning permission granted by county planners on ten developments near major roads.

These include appeals on plans to build homes along the N6, N67, and N66.

In total, four homes have been refused planning permission to build along major homes, and a decsion is still pending on the six other developments.

Speaking to Galway Bay FM news, spokesperson for the NRA, Sean O’Neill says these appeals are based on road safety and are not an anti rural stance.
