Road closures following serious crashes in Barna and Loughrea
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Several people are in hospital in Galway following two seperate single vehicle crashes early this morning in Barna and Loughrea.
The injuries sustained by the middle-aged man in the crash in Barna village are understood to be life threatening.
Meanwhile, in the single-vehicle crash just outside the town of Loughrea, a 20 year old male passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to UHG.
The driver and the second passenger were uninjured, but were taken to UHG as a precaution.
The crash involving one car in Barna village happened at about 5.30am near the entrance to Supervalu.
The single-vehicle crash in Loughrea happened at the edge of the town on the Gort side at about 4.30am.
Diversions are in place on the N66 Loughrea to Gort road at Bishop’s Palace and forensic collision investigators have been notified to attend the scene.
The road at Barna village re-opened shortly before 10am.
