Rise in number of Galway construction commencements
Galway Bay fm newsroom – New figures show that construction project commencements in Galway rose by 63 per cent compared to the same time last year.
The figures come from The National Housing Construction Index compiled and issued by consultancy firm Link2Plans.
The report shows that project commencements in Galway were slightly below the national average of 66 percent.
Despite the increase in starting projects, Galway experienced a drop of 3 percent in the number of new planning applications lodged compared to last year.
The largest increase in project commencements was in Westmeath with an increase of 189 percent, while the lowest was Roscommon, with no increase.
Danny O’ Shea, Managing Director of Link2Plans, says Roscommon was they only county which remained unchanged.
