Rip-roaring success in Westside

THE fifth annual Westside Arts Festival was a rip roaring success with an array of exciting highlights.
The Festival which aims to celebrate the community of Westside through the arts was officially opened by Galway City Council Arts Officer, James Harrold who acknowledged the strong vibrant artistic spirit that exists in Westside and the wonderful engagement of both young and old that the festival caters for each year.
This year was no exception with pre-events including art exhibitions showcasing the artwork of the For Us Now Women’s group, Westside Men’s Group, local artist Richard Hickey, Westside Youth, St. Joseph’s Ladies Club and the Westside Arts Group, a wonderful evening of stories and poetry under the direction of creative writer Kevin Higgins and finally an evening of song and music with traditional musician Paddy Holohan and friends.
