Rip-roaring night in store with Gypsy Rebel Rabble

Gypsy Rebel Rabble, a rip roaring gaggle of misfits, will play the Townhouse Bar this Friday to mark the launch of their debut album, Take My China.

Over the past three years the Dublin based sextet have been busy bringing their stage show to venues and the occasional street corner across Ireland and Europe. In Spring of this year, under the watchful eye of musician and producer Gavin Glass (Lisa Hannigan, Little Green Cars), they went to Orphan Studios to make their debut album. ‘

Founding member Tim Fernley has seen the band develop with different members coming and going over the years, but their high-energy performances remain the same. With a few of the original members such as Dan Barry contributing songs on the new album, Gypsy Rebel Rabble is a wonderful collage of individual artistic outlooks and voices that combine for a unique band.

Each member could have a solo career on their own, and in fact several do – Ian Birmingham (guitar) also plays with The Eskies, while Brona Keoghna (whose vocals bring Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks to mind) sings in several other outfits.

Gypsy Rebel Rabble’s album launch show in the Townhouse promises to be a night to remember. Support comes from Mikey & the Scallywags. Admission is free and doors are at 9:30.
