RESOLUTION REACHED ON MACKEREL STOCK FOR LOCAL FISHING INDUSTRY

A resolution has been reached on a Government legal dispute over mackerel stocks which was threatening the Galway fishing industry.

Minister of State at the Department of Fisheries Tony Killeen has announced that EU/Norway consultations on fisheries in Brussels have agreed on mackerel stocks with effect from today.

Earlier Fine Gael Senator, Fidelma Healy-Eames, raised concerns the mackerel industry in the west had been left ‘high and dry’ by the Government.
