A tranche of land in Moycullen, which has planning permission for 61 houses, has been put on the market with a price tag of €2.7 million.

Last March, Coillte Land Solutions was granted permission to build 61 houses and 142 parking spaces on the 14.5-acre site off the Knockferry Road.

The plans also include a shared communal and private open space, a community allotment area and landscaping. The homes would be a combination of 16 two-bed terraced houses; 16 three-bed semis; 14 four-bed semis; 11 four-bed detached and 4 five-bed detached.

Savills Ireland is now handling the sale of the land, which it described as “a stunning residential location surrounded by lakes, forests, mountains and breath-taking views of rugged Connemara”.

Nicky Conneely of Savills said: “This sale represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a site ripe for residential development in an affluent area close to Galway City.

“The site’s location provides the best of both worlds for work and leisure, with Galway City only 12km away, and the stunning and rugged Connemara landscape right on its doorstep.”

The Land Solutions business within Coillte is an asset management and development company which is involved in land sales, housing renewable energy, telecommunications and tourism.

One of the planning conditions attached is that a minimum of 20% of the houses must be restricted for use as a house by those who have an ability to preserve and protect the Irish language, for a period of 15 years.
