Request for extra time to build city homes rejected
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A request for extra time to build a housing development in Doughiska has been rejected.
The application from Ignatius Foy and Leo Maher sought to extend planning permission to construct 138 residential units.
A five year extension of time was sought by the applicants.
The development provided for the construction of 22 apartments in three-storey blocks, five storey high and 60 apartments and 53 other dwellings in two and three storey formation.
The application stated that the development, which had been granted permission in 2008, had not commenced due to an oversupply in the housing market.
City planners have refused the application stating that the plan represents a material contravention of the city development plan.
