Report shows Southwest Connemara least educated in county
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Gaeltacht area of southwest Connemara has the highest proportion of people in the county who did not receive an education beyond primary school.
A report compiled by the agency Pobal, in conjunction with consultants, shows that the 40 percent of adults in that area did not receive a secondary school or college education.
The Pobal study finds that Garumna DED in the Lettermore/Lettermullen area has the highest percentage of adults in County Galway who did not go beyond primary school – 45.3%.
The Rosmuc area has a percentage of 44% that did not go beyond primary education and parts Carna and Cill Chiaráin are at 42%.
The only other district in the county that topped the 40% mark was Cloonkeen District Electoral Division in south Galway.
