Report highlights key role of drinks industry for Galway tourism sector
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A new report has highlighted the key role of the drinks industry to the local tourism sector in Galway.
The study commissioned by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland was carried out by Anthony Foley of Dublin City University Business School.
It notes that 508 public houses in Galway in 2011 supported the geographic spread of tourism and regional development.
The report also found that products, services and activities provided by the drinks industry play a significant role in the wider western region also, generating over 420 million euro in tourism revenue in 2011.
Report author Anthony Foley says that Galway’s strong history of local festivals, sponsorships and events is also strongly supported by the drinks industry.
