Galway is well placed to establish its credentials as a bilingual city.

That’s the conclusion of a new study commissioned by Gaillimh le Gaeilge which finds that over 70 percent of the city’s population believe that the Irish language is a key part of our local economy.

The report makes recommendations in relation to the business and tourism sectors, primary and post-primary schools, church services and the community and voluntary sector.

One of the advised action items is the designation of Galway as a Baile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta, under the provisions of Section 9 of the Gaeltacht Act, 2012.
