Galway motorists are being advised to check the cost of their motor insurance after a report claims drivers across the city and county may be paying over the odds for their policies.

The study from insurance intermediary, AonInsure.ie, shows that premium levels can vary significantly and that some Galway drivers may be paying more than those resident in other counties.

The pricing index showed that a thirty-five year old male driver of a Toyota Avensis in Galway who signs up for fully comprehensive insurance with their spouse pays 376 euro while the same driver based in Waterford would pay 318 euro.

CEO of AonInsure Declan Cahill says that if driver’s premium price varies "significantly from the average" they should call their provider to find out why.
