Renmore close the gap with derby success

After suffering an October crisis when they lost three games in succession, Renmore have recovered well and three wins in a row has turned their season around as they vie for promotion from the Western Hygiene Supplies Division One.

At the weekend, second-half goals helped them see off Mervue United B 2-0 and in the process joined their neighbours in second position in the table. Rory Glynn headed in an Eoin O’Boyle cross for the opener, before substitute Shane Trout fired home the second to seal the win as they recorded a second win in succession over their rivals from across the road.

Knocknacarra were even less predictable in recent games, as just one win from four games saw them drop off a promotion challenge, but a fantastic performance on Sunday saw them end league leader’s Cois Fharraige’s 29 match unbeaten league run with a 3-0 success at Cappagh Park. Their reward is a joint third position alongside Tuam Celtic – as just three points separate the top five in the table.

Aengus Mac Donnacha, Marcus Mac Donnacha and Rory Knight were all on the mark for Anthony Quinn’s side in a very impressive performance as they saw off a Connemara side who were promoted alongside them last May.

In the remaining Division One game, Colemanstown United were 4-2 winners over bottom side West Coast United with Tom Flannery (3) and Jason Finn on the mark for the home side, while Theo Joyce and Mark Gannon responded for the visitors.
