Plans to build commercial units in Headford are continuing despite Galway County Council refusing planning permission for the development.

An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála for permission to demolish a garage and replace it with 5 commercial units including a restaurant.

Concern was expressed about the opening hours for the proposed take-away, however the applicant has no objection to An Bord Pleanála applying a condition limiting the closing time.

The appellant also states that the site is zoned as ‘mixed development’ and that the commerical units would be an appropriate use for the site.
