Redevelopment planned for Seapoint in Salthill

Plans to demolish a large part of Seapoint in Salthill – to make way for a new leisure centre, retail unit, café and apartments – have been lodged with Galway City Council.

Paul and Aishling Freeney of Oldside Enterprises, which owns Seapoint, have sought permission for a major redevelopment of numbers 183, 185, 187 and 189 Upper Salthill.

The plans include the demolition of numbers 183 and 185 – including the four-storey building with six apartments to the rear – and demolition of the single-storey extensions to the rear of the original Seapoint building.

A new three-storey building will be constructed on the site, with leisure use on the ground and first floor, with seven apartments overhead.

The original building will be retained, with minor refurbishments inside and outside. On the southern side of the building will be a new four-storey build with a ground floor retail unit, first floor café and a duplex five-bed apartment above.
