Reconstructed facial image released in bid to identify Barna body
Gardaí in Salthill have issued a facial reconstruction image of a man whose body was found in Barna almost a year ago.
Detectives have enlisted the help of a Scottish University to help identify the body – a male thought to be 30 to 40 years old – which was found at Rusheen Bay Woods in Barna on September 27.
Foul play is not suspected.
They’re now appealing for help from the public after a facial reconstruction image is circulated.
Gardaí are appealing in particular to residents in the Salthill, Knocknacarra, Rusheen Bay, Silverstrand and Barna areas who may have seen someone matching the description of the man to contact them.
The University of Dundee in Scotland compiled a facial reconstruction image of the man, which can be viewed on our website or social media pages.
The movements of the dead man prior to his death are unknown, but gardaí are reminding people that the weather was particularly good for the few weeks prior to the discovery of the man’s body.
Gardaí say he could have been travelling around Ireland and may have stayed in B&Bs, hotels and hostels or may have left belongings at temporary accommodation.
He is described as being about 30- 40 years old, 6 feet tall, with black hair and a broad build.
He was wearing a gold bracelet watch, a black leather jacket, a longsleeved microfleece top, blue jeans and Athletech white and blue runners.
The clothing worn by the deceased man is a brand mostly sold in Canada.
He had a single silver key with EPA inscribed on it and the brand of his gold watch is Caravelle by Bulova.
Anyone who may remember anything that might help in identifying the man found in Barna last year is asked to contact Salthill Gardaí at 091 514720.
