RECOMMENDATIONS TO IMPROVE CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH UNIT AT MERLIN PARK

The Health Service Executive West is being urged to implement recommendations to improve the service at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at Merlin Park Hospital.

A report by the Inspector for Mental Health Services found that residents of the 20-bed unit don’t have individual care plans and many of its policies are outdated.

While the report found that the unit at Merlin Park Hospital is modern, spacious and airy, it found several failings.

The Inspectorate of Mental Health Services has issued 7 recommendations to address the listed shortcomings at the Merlin Park unit.
