RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER ARAN AIRCRAFT INCIDENT
Date Published: 09-Jul-2011
Two recommendations have been made to an aircraft company following an investigation into an incident on the Aran Islands.
The air accident investigation unit made the recommendations to TECNAM following the incident at Inis Mór airfield in April of last year.
The pilot was landing the aircraft at Inis Mór airfield when he felt a rapid drop of the port wing.
He was forced to make a hasty stop, shut down the engine and exit the aircraft along with one passenger.
Subsequent investigations found that a nut had come loose from the aircraft causing the landing gear to partially collapse.
The air accident investigation unit has now published its report into the incident and makes two recommendations.
This includes that ‘aeronautiche tecnam s.r.l’ should instigate a review of manufacturing quality procedures.
