Re-opening of Leisureland pool pushed back to December

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The pool facilities at Leisureland in Salthill may remain closed until December.
At its AGM this week, the Board of Leisureland was given an up-to-date report on the progress of flood repair works at the complex.
Members were informed that some of the tiles for the pool area had arrived, and that the tiling works would take around 18 weeks.
However, repairs suffered a setback when a drainage channel around the pool was found to be flooded by salt water.
It had to be removed and replaced, putting planned repair works on hold for six weeks.
The board was informed last month that the pool would not re-open until October as a result of the storm damage from earlier in the year.
However, the outside completion date is now expected to be early December, although this could be brought forward depending on the progress of the works.
