RALLY AGAINST CLOSURE OF CITY NURSING HOME

"Respect the existence of our elderly or expect resistance from their community".

That was the message from a large group of protestors who took part in a demonstration against the closure of St. Francis Nursing Home this afternoon.

The HSE plans to wind down the Newcastle facility next year.

The Health Minister Dr James Reilly is to meet a delegation of the home’s committee in Leinster House next Thursday afternoon.

The meeting comes following a long running campaign that has gathered almost 25 thousand signatures from the Galway public.
