QUICK SERVICE FOOD ALLIANCE REJECTS CLAIMS OF WAGE CUTS
Date Published: 15-Apr-2010
The Quick Service Food Alliance is disputing claims that there are proposals to cut the wages of restaurant workers.
It comes after the announcement that restaurant workers are planning to stage a protest at Supermacs in Eyre Square tomorrow. [Fri Apr 16]
The Quick Service Food Alliance, which includes Supermacs and other chains such as McDonalds and Burger King, is mounting a legal challenge to the Joint Labour Committee System, which sets wages for the industry.
A spokesperson for the QSFA says its a "constitutution challenge" and "not about wage reductions."
Earlier this week, the Restaurant Association of Ireland renewed its call for a reduction in the national minimal wage.
However, restaurant workers say they are already hit hard by the recession with some struggling to survive.
