QUESTIONS ASKED OF COUNTY COUNCIL OVER FURBO DEVELOPMENT
Date Published: 30-Sep-2009
Questions are being asked of Galway county council for granting planning permission twice for a housing scheme in Furbo which has just been rejected by An Bord Pleanála for the second time.
An Bord Pleanála has refused to allow developer Gerard Kilcoyne demolish a house and build 15 new homes at a site in Baile na hAbhann because of a risk of flooding and water pollution.
Galway county council had granted him permission in February.
The planning watchdog for the Gaeltacht, Airdeall, is now questioning how the county council could grant planning permission for 15 houses on the site when An Bord Pleanála had earlier overturned a decision for 9 houses on the same site.
