Quarter of a million euro donation for cancer screening in Galway and Roscommon
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Irish Cancer Society has donated a quarter of a million euro to Galway/ Roscommon Hospitals group.
The funds will be used to buy equipment that will help support the continued rollout of the bowel cancer screening programme.
BowelScreen began offering free bowel-cancer screening to people aged between 60 and 69 in 2012.
It’s hoped this can be expanded to include people aged 55 to 74.
The 250 thousand euro donation from the Irish Cancer Society will allow hospitals in Galway and Roscommon to respond to increased demand for colonoscopies.
