Quality pop-up restaurant to raise funds for Blue Teapot
Two of Galway’s finest chefs are donning their aprons to create a special pop-up dining experience in support of a fundraising campaign by the City’s Blue Teapot Theatre Company.
Blue Teapot, a group where people with intellectual disability produce high-quality drama, is currently attempting to raise €12,000 in 21 days as part of a Fund it campaign to support its upcoming show called iD which is due to premiere at this year’s Galway Arts Festival.
Jessica Murphy, the owner and head chef of Kai Café and Restaurant, together with Michelin star-winning Enda McEvoy, whose new restaurant, Loam, is due to open shortly, have joined forces and will curate a special culinary event next Friday, May 16 at 7.30pm, at the Blue Teapot Theatre on Munster Avenue.
The two will create a five-course menu, showcasing the best of local and seasonal produce, with complementing wines.
The theme of the evening will aim to reflect Blue Teapot’s past performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The idea for the pop-up restaurant came from Jess Murphy when she heard about the theatre’s fundraising drive.
“Blue Teapot does amazing work for people with intellectual disability, and I really wanted to do what I could to help support them,” she says. “My business thrives because of the local support I receive, and I truly believe that we all need to work together to build a positive community spirit and help each other”.
