Pubs consider compo claim

Publicans and hoteliers around the city are being asked to get their calculators out and tally up the costs they’ve incurred as a result
of Galway’s five-month water pollution crisis — and show just howdetermined they are to get their costs back.
Meanwhile, a city councillor has said that people who fell ill with cryptosporidiosis should be compensated.
The local branch of the Vintner’s Federation of Ireland (VFI) has sent out surveys to 120 pubs and hotels in the city, so members can add
up how much they spent on buying in ice, bottled water and installing filtration systems while the boil water notice — in place since March,
and lifted on Monday — was in affect.
