Publican tops list of Galway tax defaulters
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A publican from Tuam has topped the latest list of tax defaulters in Galway.
Vincent McGagh from Liskeavy, who is also a farmer, made a settlement of more than 165 thousand euro to the Revenue Commissioners.
It related to underdeclaration of Capital Gains Tax.
6 other Galway residents made settlements with the Revenue Commissioners in the first three months of this year.
The second highest settlement in Galway was made by medical consultant, Fabio Bartolozzi from Cloan, Stradbally North, Clarinbridge.
He made a settlement of almost 97 thousand euro for underdeclaration of Income Tax and PAYE/PRSI.
A settlement of 94 thousand euro was made by Marie Anne Smith of Truskey West, Barna for underdeclaration of Capital Acquisitions Tax.
The fourth highest Galway settlement was made by Brendan O’ Toole, a courier from Henry Street.
He made a settlement with Revenue Commissioners of 94 thousand euro for underdeclaration of Income Tax and VAT.
Tom Moran, a landscape gardener from Carranthomas, Craughwell is 5th of the list of Galway tax defaulters.
He made a settlement of over 85 thousand euro for underdeclaration of VAT and Income Tax.
The 6th Galway settlement was made by food outlet proprieter and landlord, John Casey from Bramley, Renville West, Oranmore.
He settled with the Revenue Comissioners for almost 62 thousand euro in relation to underdeclaration of Income Tax.
The final Galway name on the tax defaulters list is John O’ Rourke, a plasterer from Derreen Upper, Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe.
He made a settlement of just under 48 thousand euro for underdeclaration of VAT.
The total settlement amount made by 7 Galway people to Revenue Commissioners between January and March this year was just over 646 thousand euro.
