PUBLIC TRANSPORT STUDY TO HAVE IMPACT ON SALMON WEIR BRIDGE
Date Published: 10-Nov-2009
The long awaited removal of footpaths on the Salmon Weir Bridge in the city, to install pedestrian footbridges, has been delayed.
At last night’s city council meeting, Director of Services, Ciarán Hayes, told councillors that issues arising in the Public Transport Feasibility Study may have implications for the Salmon Weir Bridge development.
Earlier this year, expressions of interest were sought to design two footbridges over the River Corrib near the bridge.
8 candidates were shortlisted to submit tenders and it’s understood a preferred bidder was selected at the end of July.
Councillor Padraig Conneely asked the Director who the ‘preferred bidder’ was, but Mr. Hayes said he could not say at that point.
