Public to have say on future of city junction
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway City Councillor has called for the elimination of the right turn off Threadneedle Road on to Taylors Hill road in the city.
The matter was debated at this week’s meeting of the council, after Cllr Peter Keane brought forward representations from residents of the Taylors Hill and Knocknacarra areas.
Cllr Keane- who is from the Taylors Hill area- says residents would like the right turn at the top of Threadneedle Road onto Taylors Hill road prohibited.
He says the council have €160,000 available to them to make the junction safer and encourage a free flow of traffic.
A traffic survey was carried out following the proposal, and it found that only 5% of vehicles were taking the right turn in question.
However, Cllr Keane maintains that there is a traffic flow problem at the junction that needs to be addressed.
