Galway bay fm newsroom – A second public meeting on the proposed re alignment of the N59 Maam cross to Oughterard road takes place this week.

(15/08)

Locals say while the development of the road network is a ‘positive step’, part of the road project represents a number of concerns.

One of these involves the cultural impact it may have as a section of the road will go through a well documented traditional settlement in Glengowla west.

Local angling groups are also worried about the impact of the local ecoystem.

This meeting takes place just days before the second An Bord Pleanala public hearing on the plan in the city next Tuesday August 20th.

The public meeting will take place this Thursday in the Tourist information point in Oughterard at 8.30pm.

Chairperson at the meeting Josephine Lally says residents in Glengowla have very serious concerns about the proposed realignment
