PUBLIC MEETING IN NUIG ON ABORTION POLITICS AND IRELAND
A public meeting on the History of Women’s Reproductive Choices in Ireland will take place this evening at NUI Galway, co-hosted by Galway Pro-Choice with the NUIG Choice Society.
Independent social policy analyst Dr. Pauline Conroy will address the meeting in the Dillon Theatre on the Arts Concourse at 7pm.
Dr. Conroy’s paper published by the Center for Women Policy Studies in Washington was recently reproduced in the IrishTimes and she has written papers for the United Nations
Tonight she will give a chronology of reproductive rights law in Ireland, north and south, from the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act preventing abortion, up to the current situation in the Republic following the death of Savita Halappanavar at UHG last year.
