Psychiatric Nurses meet with HSE in bid to avert industrial action

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Psychiatric Nurses Association is meeting with HSE West management in Roscommon this evening in a bid to avert potential industrial action.
It follows a protest at University Hospital Galway this afternoon over concerns about understaffing and patient safety at the hospital’s psychiatric unit.
Staff say inadequate staffing and out-dated facilities are impacting patient care at the 45-bed unit.
General Secretary of the Psychiatric Nurses’ Association Des Kavanagh says its members are willing to give management a chance to prevent strike action.
